Dragon: Opel Blitz
Due to the powerful processes of computer, more and more products are designed by computer. There’s no exception in plastic model kits. Manufacturers have the design made by 3D CAD and then go straight forward to tooling processes. It’s an advantage in lowering the cost and saving development time. However in ’70 and ’80, a time without any computer software, many legendary car model kits were released. Most of them had sophisticated curves that were reproduced by hand-made master sculpture. To reproduce the cabin of Opel Blitze truck, we made the master sculpture of it firstly and then made the tooling after 3D scan. In a word, this kit combines traditional master technique and nowadays technology.
From different wartime photos, the cabin roof seems round or flat. It’s because of its complicated shapes. If you watch the build-up models in same angles, it fully matches what can be seen on photos.
Thanks to Dragon’s highest engineering technology, the edges are made as thin as possible. It is easily assembled and yet is full of intricate detail. It is good for modelers who wants to build up the vehicle only or make a diorama with it.
Door and bonnets can be assembled open or close. When they are open, the detailed interor are visible like the dash-board and engine. The slits on the bonnet sides and on the front grill are penetrated. Engine and radiator can be seen through the slits. Headlight lens is made by clear part, can be seen if headlight cover part is put off. Chassis details are completely reproduced. It’s possible to make diorama with it crashed or turned over.
It is full of attraction of soft-skin and accurate details. Try to build your Opel Blitze truck!
