MPM Production 1/72 June Releases

MPM Production have sent us details of their latest aircraft releases. This month sees two versions of the Northrop N-3PB, along with the Caproni Ca.311 in unusual markings.

1/72 N-3PB “No. 330 (Norwegian) Squadron
The N-3PB were being operated by No.330 (Norwegian) squadron based on Iceland for a quite long period of time. Initially, the planes flew with the early RAF type of roundels and with fuselage numbers instead of squadron codes which were incorporated later on. During 1942, a new type of RAF markings was introduced and replaced the older ones also on the N-3PB airframes and the colour of the fuselage codes was changed as well. The decal sheet covers all the above options and caters for three machines, one with the initial markings and numbers on the fuselage and the other two with the fuselage code letters in two different colours and wearing the early and also the later style of the RAF roundels.

The kit features three grey styrene runners and one with the clear parts. Some of the smaller parts were created using our advanced CAD design and a metallic insert in the standard moulds will assure their best possible quality. Among those 3D-designed parts is also the beaching gear. The photo-etched fret takes care of some interior detail, water rudders and mooring points.

1/72 N-3PB “Little Norway service”
The kit features three grey styrene runners and one with the clear parts. This offering comes with exactly the same runners and set of brass parts as the previous model of the Northrop N-3PB (SH72250). The difference is in the decal sheet which now features three different machines that were operated in Little Norway and flew with Norwegian markings in the form of stripes in Norway´s national colours.

1/72 Caproni Ca.311 Foreign Service
As the name of this model already suggests, the camouflage options featured in the model bring markings for various users outside Italy. If you fancy building something less usual, you can chose between a Ca.311 of the Yugoslav Air Force, Croatian Ca.311M or a captured Ca.311 in a RAF guise.

The kit parts come on three sprues, wings and small parts are in standard grey styrene runners while the fuselage frame is injected completely clear. This feature eliminates the challenging assembly of the fuselage windows for the Ca.311 version. Our spray masks will certainly help modellers come painting time. The kit also contains crisply cast resin and a fret of photo-etched parts.

Ding Hao

Another tank is on the way from Ding Hao, this time a Chinese tank based on the Duster chassis and Hellcat turret.
Ding Hao has announced they have a Chinese Type 64 tank in the works. The Type 64 tank is a hybrid of two American tanks that were acquired during the Chinese Civil War. The tank uses surplus M42 Duster chassis’ with M18 Hellcat turrets. Ding Hao being a sister company of AFV Club, the parts would more than likely be sourced from AFV Club kits, with additional parts to complete the Type 64.

ICM

ICM has announced a new variant of the unique sloped frontend 3.5t truck in way of an ambulance. The kit is to include interior cab detail and decals for one vehicle. Based on the description provided by ICM, the shelter does not include interior shelter detail as stated “will be a nice kit for those, who like to create their own interiors inside. There will be a lot of space for creation”.

Takon

Takom has updated with the box art for the Skoda 42cm M.1917 heavy siege howitzer.
This kit will include the Erich von Manstein figure and photo-etched parts.
Takom also hinted that the new siege gun should be released at the end of March.

Accurate Armour

Accurate Armour has announced an early variant of the Land Rover RUC Tangi conversion kit.
The conversion kit contains detail for both exterior and interior including photo-etched parts, “amoured glass”, and markings.
A Hobby Boss Land Rover kit to complete the conversion.

Takon

Takom has announced that a new Skoda siege howitzer and a variant KV-5 are being released with some extras. With the Skoda 42cm Siege Howitzer there will be a figure of Erich von Manstein. This is a different version of the previously released Skoda gun, and was also used in the siege of Svestapol. And the KV-4 will be released as a Pz.Kpfw.758(r). It should be noted that I can find no record of a KV-5 captured by the Germans, thus the tank would be just theoretical.
